According to the tech support people at Linksys I just talked to, the only way to upgrade the firmware of my Linksys WRT54G router is through a Windows XP computer. If you don't have access to a Windows XP computer, they will not help you.
If you have a Mac, I strongly recommend you not buy Linksys products, as apparently they do not support the Mac platform.
UPDATE: The Linksys tech support woman didn't know what she was talking about. See comments below.

I recommend Belkin, good brand, supports Mac and very easy set up and control panel.
You can update the firmware without a Windows XP machine. Just download the firmware update and open the read me file, substitue PC for Mac and follow the rest of the directions.
Pay no attention to them when they say they don't support Macs b/c the HW supports Macs their SW doesn't. But if you use Safari and access the Set up assistant that way you should be able to update the firmware.
Find the firmware update here...

I had a Linksys wireless router for six months. Finally gave up and returned it to Amazon and got a no-quibble refund. Replaced it with a Belkin.
