Emily Blake has a smart post on
how to spec a House ep. In brief:
Step 1: figure out what the character stuff is about
Step 2: do your medical research on
WebMD.
Notice the order! Character first. Every
Buffy was about what was going on in Buffy's life,
then what monster she faced. That's why the stories stayed fresh even when the monsters looked like giant sock puppets. Very few people can really follow the medicine on
House anyway, so it
better be about the character drama!

I was listening to a podcast from the guys from ALIAS and they said their writer's room always opened with:
"What emotional turmoil are we going to put Sydney through this week?"
Then they would figure out the plot to best achieve that end...
Know what's neat? Having your blog linked to by a guy who's book you're reading.
I loved the book. I just finished it this morning. It answered a ton of questions I'd never seen addressed anywhere else.
