Paul William Tenny reminds me:
The entry deadline for the 2008 Nicholl fellowship is coming up on May 1st. The ABC/Disney fellowship deadline is still a ways off, July 1st, but looming.
The Nicholl is probably the most prestigious screenwriting competition, period. And the ABC/Disney Fellowship is possibly the closest program the US has to the superb Canadian Film Centre.
If you're Canadian, also check out the
Canwest Emerging Writers Program at Banff. Their deadline is 18 April, so get on it.

Is the deadline for the Disney fellowship always July 1st? Because when I checked the link to their website, the deadline is July 1st, 2007.
Does anyone know what kind of spec the Canwest emerging writers program accepts? Does it have to be a Canadian show, or can it be an American show?
Also, I noticed that you need to have an original show ready to pitch for the festival. Do you need to submit a written pitch or anything when you submit, or do you just need it for when/if you actually get to Banff?
Thanks, I couldn't find any answers to these on the Canwest site.
I'm sure Canwest will take an UGLY BETTY or a LOST.
I'm pretty sure you'll need a written pitch. Something around 750-1000 words should do it.
