Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes pitch "The Rikers of Space," a sitcom based on Star Trek: TNG. What I love about this is that it's sort of a joke, sort of not. I mean, they would do it if someone bit. It goes on way too long, but this is how we work up series. And pitch them. Starts with a possibly ridiculous idea. Then you start working it out, figuring out what it is and what it isn't... Anyway, fun.
Well, thank you. I just added this video to my own blogspot website, vis: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/149.html
I have to say, wow, this would be a GREAT idea. But, Marina Sirtis is wrong, the Troy's "mother" got pregnant in DS9 at a much older age. She is forgetting that Betazoids aren't humans. They can have babies later in life. She is also forgetting that it's set about 350 years from now, where, one assumes, medicine has progressed in many ways.
Because of the time period, they could also have guest stars from other Trek shows, DS9, Voyager. There was always the potential for more comedy in Trek, and more so once the rules of the Trek universe were established.
I would like to see Wesley time warping in to babysit more than Data, though.
Wish there was something one could do to make this happen!
Haven't they been reading the Star Trek: Titan novels? Some perfectly good stories in them with lots of meat on the bones for their TNG-era characters...
