Q. What podcasts & blogs would you recommend following for continuing education? Especially about:
- Film history including watershed films, writers, and directors
- Staying current on who is who and doing what
- Interviews with Writers and Directors
Personally, I'm fond of
NPR's Fresh Air program, and they often interview directors and showrunners, especially when they are Matthew Weiner.
Hey, class, what are your favorite podcasts?

I've recently found Nerdist Industries "The Writers Panel" to be alternately funny and amazing with insights from some killer screenwriters including Neil Goldman, Ken Levine, Bill LAwrence and the writers from Lost, Walking Dead, so many! : http://www.nerdist.com/podcast/nerdist-writers-panel/
Three really stand out:
1) Scriptnotes with John August and Craig Mazin.
2) The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith.
3) The On the Page podcast with Pilar Alessandra.
I listen to a number of comedians' podcasts--Adam Carolla, Jay Mohr, Greg Fitzsimmons--that shed light on Hollywood's workings. Also, "Meet the Filmmaker."
*cough* I do the monthly UK Scriptwriters podcast with BAFTA-nominated Tim Clague. We talk about film, TV and new media (news, opportunities, craft issues) but also do occasional interviews. We recently came 2nd in the European Podcast Awards! *cough*
KCRW's The Business, The Treatment, and Martini Shot.
WTF with Marc Maron is pretty great, especially the Bill Lawrence and Dan Harmon interviews.
Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan and the Firewall and Iceberg podcast are good for TV Criticism.
TV Media Insights with Marc Berman is a good rundown of TV ratings.
