DON'T USE BROWN ACROSS THE BORDER

Someone sent me a package via UPS, and once again they tacked on a $50 customs clearance fee.

Please, if you're sending a package across the US/Canadian border, don't use UPS. Fedex doesn't charge for customs clearance; neither does the post office. UPS is just greedy.

the package must have been worth $1000 or so right? they wouldn't tack a $50 fee on to a $20 book from Amazon

The package was worth $85.

Hmm. I just googled "UPS customs" and got this page:

http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html

Perhaps they thought it was $850 instead of $85. The customs for $850 is about fifty-two bucks.

Can you get a refund?
Maybe I didn't read closely enough.
