If you are a young or youngish Quebec-based screenwriter, whether you write in English or French, check out SODEC's "Cours Après Ton Court" aka "Sprint for Your Script." It's a program for writers 18-35 who are "pursuing a professional writing career," that is, no currently enrolled students. There's mentorship, and nifty prizes. Deadline is August 9. Check it out at the official
SODEC site.

What should I do, if I'am not a Quebec, but a young Russian screenwriter? How could I move to Hollywood or Canada at least? My screenwriting skills are sharp, but I can write only in Russian (I read McKee, Pamela Douglas, Ezsterhaz, Egri and shit)
I know everything about classic dramatic structure of tv or movie screensplay (spent about $1K on books from amazon, wrote (or written or whatever, never been good in English) two short films and one Tv-series, I can read classes about claasic hollywood screenwriting. How do you think, can I move from Russia (where HBO is cutting-edge cabel channel from the future and most of the TV-series are like stuck in 80's) to the american TV-industry, hiring a translator and selling my knowledge of the classic dramatic structure, of should I shut the fuck up and write Tv-series for the 50 y.o. russian female white thrash till the day I die? (I have one short-film screeplay translated to English). Can you be from the Third world with mediocre English (and beautiful Russian, really beautiful) and still write high-claas screenplays in California? Or Russian screen-boy is 100% loser in English-speaking world? (besides universal Dramatic theory)
You know, here, in Russia, we have School TV-series (it's like early HBO, series about schoolboy's problems without any glamourizing, in realistic-like perspective), which caused MAJOR scandal, including official statements from our prime-minister Putin ("Leave "The School" alone", lol) and hot public debates. I cant imagine, what will happen if someone will shoot Russian version of "Sopranos" or "The Wire" - perhaps, there will be massive riot and shooting in Moscow. So that's why I want to abandon drunk snowy Russia and move to USA - to write about what is really interesting and cool, not about what FBS (Feberal Bureau of Security) has allowed.
Magnificent post! I do have the same opinion. script writing can be a jam-packed job, if we are not careful.
nomina-obscura ! I would love to speak with you.
