Old Bailey
The Old Bailey, London's famous Central Criminal Court, has posted four centuries of trial records online, including transcripts. Want to read true stories of very, very bad people? Check it out.
Yes indeedy, but you can also learn a lot about minor crime and get a real feel for any particular decade. It's amazing. Consider that a real police force in London didn't exist until around the mid 18th century so the Old Bailey records pre-date that.
