Now here's a really terrible new idea ... advertisements on DVD that you CAN'T FAST FORWARD THROUGH.
I rented the Brothers Grimm DVD from Zip, and I had to watch the ad for double-sided tape. Twice.
That's really freaking irritating.
I felt like the ants trapped on the tape.
Sometimes I feel like there oughtta be a process where citizens are entitled to punch engineers in the shoulder for every really obnoxious, dumb, irritating idea they come up with.

not the engineers - the marketing departments.
That's been happening more this last year. Some DVD's force you to watch coming attractions or a long montage of past films. The non-skip feature was meant for things like FBI warnings. At this point I pop in a DVD with the TV off ahead of time. Then I don't typically have to fight through all the fluff.
Did you try the chapter function? You know, hit the chapter forward button or go to scene selection. It seems to work on the trailers but I haven't tried it yet on the commercials.
Kill all marketers.
I mean, sure, you're going to lose a few good people.
But think of the overall benefit to humanity, and steel yourself.
